eXplore Kirkland

Kirkland, WA Community

Kirkland residents are in for a treat this summer as the city unveils its much-anticipated Outdoor Summer Movie Series for 2025. Running every Saturday evening from July 12 through August 9, this free community event will transform Marina Park into an open-air cinema featuring double features on a state-of-the-art LED screen. The five-week series offers families, friends, and film enthusiasts the perfect opportunity to enjoy warm summer evenings along the waterfront while experiencing movies under the stars.

The 2025 Lineup

The 2025 lineup represents the City of Kirkland’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible entertainment options for community members of all ages. Each Saturday’s programming will include two carefully selected films shown back-to-back, creating an evening of entertainment that caters to diverse audience preferences. With the larger LED screen technology replacing traditional projection methods used in previous years, viewers can expect enhanced visibility regardless of where they set up their viewing spot, even before the sun fully sets over Lake Washington.

How to Maximize the Experience

For those planning to attend Kirkland’s Outdoor Movie Nights, Marina Park will open to moviegoers at 6:00 PM, with the first feature beginning promptly at 6:30 PM. Following a brief intermission, the second film will start around 8:15 PM, with the event ending by 10:00 PM. The City of Kirkland has arranged for additional temporary seating areas throughout the park, though attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own blankets or low-profile lawn chairs to ensure maximum comfort throughout the four-hour event.

Admissions

While admission remains completely free, attendees should note that parking in downtown Kirkland can fill quickly on event nights. City officials recommend carpooling, using ride-share services, or arriving early to secure parking. Several local restaurants will offer takeout specials for movie night, though guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Public restroom facilities will remain open throughout the event, and the City of Kirkland will provide additional waste and recycling stations to keep the park clean. In case of inclement weather, updates about possible cancellations will be posted on the city’s official website and social media channels by 3:00 PM on event days.
